What is vibrational energy?
Ever notice how some people have an almost magnetic aura about them? They are instantly, and effortlessly, likeable and seem to draw people to them inexplicably like a moth to a flame. You might wonder what it is that makes them so attractive and conclude that they just have ‘it’, that certain something intangible that makes you and everyone else seem to gravitate toward them. They can walk into the room and without so much as a word instantly impact the entire atmosphere and lift the mood of all those surrounding them. But for every Ying there must be the Yang… those people who you take an instant disliking to. Maybe you can’t quite put your finger on it, but as opposed to being drawn to them you find yourself wanting to create distance from them. Rather than a magnetic pull they are met with an almost unconscious force of resistance. The moment they enter, the atmosphere turns tense or awkward, the mood dampens, you feel vulnerable, insecure, or uncomfortable and there are as we say ‘bad vibes’ just hanging in the air. Sound familiar? Did you relate these experiences to being a good judge of character? Perhaps intuition?
Have you ever had a thought and almost immediately someone else voices it as though they had read your mind? Or an even spookier coincidence, when you randomly think of someone and at that exact moment they call you. Perhaps you shrugged these things off, putting it down to gut instinct, or just plain coincidence.
How about the expression, ‘when it rains it pours’? That oh so familiar feeling that one negative thing can offset a chain reaction. We’ve all had days that go like this: you stepped in a puddle, then slipped, then lost your wallet, then cracked your phone screen, locked yourself out of the house and then dented your car. It’s like you have been swept away in a wave (or tsunami) of negativity and you wonder why life always likes to kick you when you are already down.
What if I told you that all of the above seemingly unrelated experiences may actually be a hint as to a much greater power at work? A telepathic network that we all have access to. A global energy exchange that makes itself known in moments of inexplicable coincidences or ‘gut feelings’. Albert Einstein once observed that “everything in life is vibration”. Every being, every object, every word, every action and even every thought transmits a vibration at different frequencies. We as a result absorb the energy broadcasted by others and are completely capable of tapping into their thoughts based on the vibrations they give out, even when they are not physically around us. Our energy can also be contagious, infecting those that we interact with and either raising or lowering their frequency.
According to the law of attraction, you attract energy vibrating at a similar frequency to yours, or more simply put, you get back what you put out into the universe – so if negative things keep snowballing or you can’t seem to get away from toxic people, you may in fact be manifesting them. Not to say that you are the problem; just think of it as being stuck on a radio channel that is constantly feeding you information that promotes stress, mindlessness or negativity and which in turn creates that snowball effect of bad days or bad moods. As Einstein stated, “match the frequency of the reality that you want and you cannot help but get that reality”. Einstein even pointed out that this theory is not philosophy, but physics. Not faith, not fantasy, but pure science.

Canine Telepathy and Psychic Plants
With Einstein's lead science has approached the topic of vibrational energy and found that this innate power of intuition and of tuning in to the Universe’s subtle network of energy, is not exclusive to humans. One biologist, Rupert Sheldrake, observed instances of telepathy in dogs. Inspired by stories of canines’ supernatural powers of perception, like being able to predict natural disasters or finding tumors in their owners long before medical advances could do so, Sheldrake decided to put them to the test. Astonishingly Sheldrake’s study claimed to uncover that dogs were able to respond to just the thoughts and intentions of their owners, even while they were not around. He found that some canines would sit by the door and wait for up to 10 minutes in advance of their owners return despite deliberate changes to their return time and even the method of transport which would eliminate the predictability of regular patterns. It is as though once the owner had the thought, the dog somehow received it as a message – much like when we think of someone and just seconds later they call us. Startled by the ability of dogs to predict their owners’ return, Sheldrake also collected hundreds of claims from dog owners whose furry friends would begin acting excitedly several moments before their phone began to ring – but only if one of their human family members would be on the other end; other callers were completely ignored by the dogs. Sheldrake has highlighted that this psychic capability and intraspecies energetic connection lies beyond scientific understanding which would deem it farfetched, impossible or rule it out as pure coincidence. His findings however seem to point at exactly what Einstein had underlined so many decades before. Perhaps there is some kind of spiritual science at play here.
In another particularly trippy experiment, CIA polygraph expert Cleve Backster on a whim attached a galvanometer to a plant. He then thought about setting the said plant on fire to see if it would change the result of the galvanometer in any way. Just as he reached for the lighter however, as if reading his mind, the plant gave off a sudden surge of electrical activity. Astounded by the occurrence, Backster put multiple other plants to the test. He found that every plant that was tested in some way energetically reacted to the thoughts of the human being around them. To further test his whacky theory, Backster had a person stomp on a plant and tested a nearby plant for its reaction. Not only did the observed plant electrically react to the action, but its disposition also changed whenever the person doing the stomping approached it as though it became nervous. This kicked off an influx of findings and theories that became well known, for example plants growing more rapidly when positive affirmations were bestowed upon them, or that playing Mozart to plants could improve their quality. It leads you to thinking, if our intention alone can alter the disposition of a plant and our thoughts can be read by animals miles away from us, imagine just how interconnected every being on the planet really is and the immense potential we have to influence each other. If our every action and every thought has been so profoundly affecting the world around us without us being aware of it, imagine what could happen if we were all tuned in and conscious. If we were all mindful of our impact on everything and everyone around us.

The Real Earth Song
We have seen how we could influence the planet, but how about how the planet influences us? The Earth is pulsating constantly- a phenomena known as the Schumann Resonance. These resonances envelope our planet and are the kind of heartbeat of it. Interestingly, when our own brain waves harmonize with the beat of our planet we tend to be at our calmest. For example, during a deep and peaceful sleep or in a state of meditation (when theta waves predominate) our brain waves are most accurately in consonance with the vibratory frequency of the Earth. What’s more fascinating is that across history ancient cultural practices and religious rituals have been shown to enhance human harmonization with this planetary field. Is it an unconscious drive to want to synchronize ourselves to the cosmic rhythm, or were our predecessors aware of the phenomena long before we were? Though the answer is unclear, it was found that chanting, shamanic drumming, the Omh sound, singing bowls, the Amen and even Jewish and Muslim practices of swaying in prayer have all been found to coincide with the planet’s energetic beat.
Taking the theory further, healers across the globe were studied during their healing practices, regardless of their independent belief systems, they were all found to have near identical EEG readings to each other during healing which also perfectly matched the Earth’s geoelectric pulsations. What this tells us is that our planet’s electric field is serving us as a psychic information highway. The better synched we are with it the more intuitive we will be, the more connected with each other, the greater our powers of healing, the greater our sense of tranquility and the more able we will be to tap into our overall psychic power. The more synced with it we are, the closer we feel to a higher power or a greater purpose. Though the idea of electrical energy may not seem logical or scientific to the sceptic, perhaps science and spirituality are a necessary marriage to uncover the many mysteries of our planet.

Raising your vibrations
Nikola Tesla once noted that if the vibrational system can be controlled electronically than we have the potential to directly alter the entire mental system of humankind. So how can we raise our vibration and impact the world around us for the better?
Those with high vibrational frequencies tend to radiate kindness, love, compassion and other qualities that as mentioned, make them appealing to others, raise the spirits of others and generally impact other beings positively. On the other hand, those with lower frequencies will experience low vibe emotions like jealousy, anger, or fear which will lead them to impact those around them in a more negative way, pulling the frequency of others down like a domino effect. Human energy is contagious, ever changing and easily influenced by each other, the media, the weather and the general pace of modern life. Below we list 10 things you can do to alter your frequency for a more harmonious life:
1) Positive Thinking and intentions – We have seen how our intentions and our thoughts have the power to impact even the plants around us, so make your thoughts positive. Start your day by setting positive intentions for yourself and for those who you will encounter on your way. Pump positivity into everything that you do and the outcome will likely be equally as uplifting.
2) Try Reiki - Reiki is a spiritual healing in which the life force energy is transferred from practitioner to patient. Here the subtle energy within the body can be redirected, unblocked and elevated in order to combat emotional distress and the physiological ailments which arise as a consequence.
3) Surround yourself with positive people who bring out the best in you, leave you feeling motivated, confident and generally lighter in spirit. Those who leave you feeling drained, stressed, insecure etc are likely to bring down your vibes thereby attracting more negativity to you.
4) Gratitude Journaling – Where energy goes energy flows! Focusing on the good things makes a world of a difference to your mood. At the end of each day, write the peaks in a journal. List the things that went well or all that you are grateful for. That way despite any negative occurrences that threatened to dampen your energy, you choose to focus on only the good things that have the power to change your mindset.
5) High Vibe Foods – Since everything is energy, it makes sense that you consume the energy of all that you eat. As a result it is beneficial to avoid heavily processed foods and toxins that serve no purpose in nourishing your body. Processed foods or foods that have been microwaved, canned, modified, dehydrated etc have lost some of their vibration and have lower frequencies. To raise your vibration, choose foods in their simplest and most natural form like fruits, vegetables, legumes, seeds, honey, wholegrains.
6) Say your blessing – Raising your energy may not just be about what you choose to eat but how you choose to eat. By channeling love and positivity into the food as you prepare it you could be changing the vibrational properties of the food and therefore helping to lift that of whomever consumes it. Just like the plants in Backster’s study who reacted to the thoughts of those around it – If you raise its energy and it’ll raise yours right back.
7) Listening to healing music – Youtube has a huge array of healing soundtracks i.e. 174, 285, 396, 417, 432, 528 etc hz frequencies designed to bring calm to the spirit. Listening to them before bed, during meditation or when working or completing household tasks could aid to alleviate any low vibe emotions like anxiety.
8) Meditation – In states of deep meditation the human brain is most in sync to the Earth’s resonance which triggers a calm and peaceful state of mind.
9) Stress busting – Whether it is hitting the gym, doing yoga, dancing, enjoying time outdoors, spring cleaning or whatever it is that helps you to clear the mind clutter, it is likely to make you more receptive to positive vibrations and more resistant to those downers.
10) Crystals – Since ancient civilizations, humans haven been drawn to crystals. Just like everything in the universe, crystals have their own unique energetic frequency but unlike that of humans, they have a stable frequency. This is because they are made up of a fixed, repetitive and flawless geometric pattern of molecules. It is believed that the more stable the energy the more power it holds. As physicist Christian Huygens observed, when two pendulum clocks were placed near one another, though they initially swung at different rates, after a few moments they reached perfect synchronicity. In a similar way, human beings can pick up on frequencies of all around them and vibrate at the same rate. So surrounding yourself with a higher and more stable frequency is a surefire way to elevate your own. The exact frequency will depend on the colour, composition, size etc of the crystal. Colour is seen as important as it directly correlates with the chakras i.e. purple is seen as connected to the crown chakra (the highest vibration within us) whereas read correlates to the root chakra (the lowest). It is suggested that you should choose the crystals that you are intuitively drawn to however since this may be indicating a blockage that needs to be cleared. Though crystal healing is often skeptically alluded to as pseudo-science, it certainly cannot hurt to surround oneself with beautiful crystals.
